5-year BS/MS
program in Applied Mathematics Targeted for Honors
Students
Do you have many
interests?
Are you undecided about a major? Then studies in
applied mathematics may be just right for
you. The
field of applied mathematics offers an array of
varied and challenging work. Professionals
use theories and techniques, such as mathematical
modeling and computational methods, to solve
practical problems in such diverse fields as
business, biology, medicine, management,
economics, government, computer science, physics,
psychology, engineering and social science. Mathematicians
collaborate with professionals in other fields of
study to achieve common solutions to
problems.
After successfully completing an
interdisciplinary five-year bachelor/master's
program in applied mathematics, a student will
receive at the same time a bachelor's degree
and a master's degree in applied
mathematics.
The program gives students comprehensive
training in analysis as well as applied and
computational mathematics. Students will be
trained in an interdisciplinary team
environment.
This teamwork, combined with a broad range
of engaging and challenging courses, prepares
students for careers in today's industrial and
scientific environments, or for continued study at
the doctoral level. For more
information about the program, please read the
attached document.
A
sample curriculum is also available. Students interested in the
program should contact Dr. Jerry Young,
